Authors and business people often go to extremes to publicize their book or product launch. Sometimes, the most successful method can appear in front of them. Take for example, book publicity. It is the one of the toughest cases to crack. Each year, at least 50,000 authors are published in the United States. Tens of thousands of authors publish electronic books. Most fail to get noticed. Very few achieve any of their goals as authors - to build up readership.

Here’s a way to get the word out and polish off your book before it hits the stores: sampling. Major corporations utilize focus groups, pollsters and other marketing experts to build up their brand name. This is similar to planting seeds to get a garden or orchard to grow. The more seeds you plant, the better your chances to grow vegetables or apple trees. As an author, you can use sampling or “seeding,” to build up awareness of your book. During the publishing process, we discovered a clever way to attract readers, and at the same time, we can upgrade our book.

Having been through the publishing process for many decades, we experimented with what every author secretly fears: a peer review. But, we did it with a twist. Instead of waiting until the book is published to read the reviews, we posted the book on our website to accept all criticism in advance. We called this a “Public and Peer Review” of our book.

Before posting the first eight chapters of the electronic version of this book, we notified subscribers, several days earlier, that the book would be available on June 18th at 11:59 P.M for Open Review. In the email notification, we included a reminder to “tell a friend” about the book’s pre-publication.

By the time this book was ready to be electronically published, our large number of subscribers had jumped by nearly 10 percent! In less than one week, we had gained more new subscribers than we had in the previous few months. Our Alexa rating, for the week had also jumped ahead of nearly 1 million other websites. The one-week draw from the email notification had also increased the 3-month average by 267 percent!

This marketing opportunity provided us with greater readership. It might now offer us a broader range of opinions, helping us improve the book. Hopefully, there will be those annoying copy editor types, who will help point out grammar, spelling and punctuation errors. Previous tests, similar to this, have also drawn experts from the industry we have written about. This adds more texture to our research, and ultimately creates a better product for our readers.

Stay tuned for our next publicity surprise, after we review the success of our public and peer review. The key is to plan out a series of teasers to keep drawing visitors to your website and intelligently persuade them that your book is something they absolutely have to read.

Creating a Scrapbook Layout

posted by admin

You began with 1000 photos. You chose a theme and picked out 100 photos to put into your scrapbook. You chose an album and bought some supplies to create your pages.

Now what? Now it’s time to put it all together, and begin creating your layouts. If you’re like me, just looking at the supplies and knowing the choices can be overwhelming.

I’ve found the easiest way to work on a scrapbook is to work on just one page at a time, or a two page layout (side by side), not really thinking about the finished product.

Although many of my scrapbooks appear to be complete, I know that I might find another picture that I want to add, so I never really consider my scrapbooks “done”. In addition, over the years folks have mailed me pictures. For example, some friends were going through their own photos and found a really cute photo of my daughter taken when she was 5 (she is now 16). They mailed it to me. I really wanted to add it to her scrapbook. So I added a new page to an existing album.

When you create your scrapbook one page at a time, you spend more time enjoying the page you are working on and less time stressing over a finished project.

Step one is choosing the photos for just the two pages in front of you. Don’t think about the proceeding pages, and don’t think about the future pages. Just look at the photos that will be on the two pages you are working with.

Choose a background. I choose background paper based on either theme or color. For example when I created some pages with photos of my dogs, I used a lot of background paper with animals on it. When I created pages of my daughter’s trip to Europe I used sheets of paper with maps and European objects on them. Other times I choose two sheets of paper that color coordinate with one another. Once I have the paper chosen, I put the photos on the paper and see if I like how they look. I move them around, crop them etc, until I’m happy with how they look. Sometimes I add a frame to the photos and sometimes I affix the photos directly to the background paper. If I use a frame, I’ll cut the frame and then again, lay it out before I actually affix the photo to the frame. I also consider any embellishments, stickers or diecuts I may want to use on the page.

I take the photos and all other items, place them all on the page and then decide if I like the look. If I do, I begin attaching everything. If I don’t quite like it, I make the changes, then begin attaching everything. Again, I only work on the two pages in front of me.

Often, after the photos are on the page, I’ll look at adding stickers over the frames, or putting a border at the bottom of the page. I use the same process. I lay it down and see if I like the look. If I do, then I attach the items.

Once these two pages are done, I flip the page and start the process all over, again, not thinking of the pages I just created and not thinking forward, but thinking of only the two pages in front of me and the photos for those pages. If you are making an album of a child ages 5 through 10, one page might be “at the beach”, while another page might be “school field trip”, meaning your layouts from page to page will be completely different.

I really do believe scrapbooks can be works in progress. If I buy a new product and think it will look great on an existing page, I’ll go back and add it, weeks or even months later.

Once your scrapbook is complete, it’s time to start a new scrapbook and start all over again with page one.

What do you do after you spend your valuable time and energy on creating an ebook? Do you start selling it online and then spend a lot of time to create another ebook from scratch?

What if I told you that you can create an ebook once and easily multiple your profits from it? Would you be interested to discover these profit-pulling ideas? Well, here you go

Hot Idea #1: Sell the Resell Rights to Your eBook

When you sell people the rights to resell your ebook and keep 100% of the profits, you can make money in two ways:

First by selling the resell rights, and second by promoting and selling affiliate products or your other related products in the ebook.

So when people give it away or sell it, their customers will see your promotions and some of them will buy them. So you’ve just made some sales without any additional marketing effort at all.

Now that’s a nice way of making additional profits, isn’t it? ;-)

The key is to write your ebook about a hot-selling subject, so a lot of people will buy the resell rights to it because they know it will sell like crazy.

Hot Idea #2: Sell the Master Resell Rights to Your eBook

You can allow people to sell your ebook as well as the resell rights to it and keep all the profits. Naturally master resell rights are worth more than just resell rights so you can sell them for a higher price.

On the other hand, if people get the master resell rights to your ebook, soon more and more people will start selling it on the Internet and after a while, you’ll find yourself facing a lot of competition all trying to sell your ebook. So you won’t be able to sell it as easily as you could before.

Selling the master resell rights to your products is most profitable when you have a powerful backend selling strategy in place.

So by making your ebook viral, not only you don’t lose anything, but you’ll also make a lot of profits by promoting your backend and affiliate products inside the ebook.

Hot Idea #3: Give Away the Resell Rights to Your eBook

Instead of “selling” your ebook resell rights, you can give them away for free so people can offer your ebook on their website for free or give it to their customers as a bonus for their own product.

This technique will easily make your ebook spread on the Internet fast. So it can be a great viral marketing strategy to get free advertising for your backend and affiliate products.

Hot Idea #4: Give Away the Branded Copy of Your eBook

To make your ebook more viral and make it spread even more quickly, you can let people brand it with their own name and website URL.

When a website owner offers his customers with an ebook that includes his name and website address, it has a higher perceived value and increases his credibility. So people will be much more willing to promote your ebook if you make it brandable.

Branding can be as simple as including a sentence like “Brought to you by: Joe Smith”, or even letting people replace the affiliate links with their own affiliate ID.

Hot Idea #5: …
