I talk with pastors, organization leaders, and speakers about how they can expand their ministry or organization by developing a line of books and they are simply amazed. When we think of growing or developing our organization many times we think of TV, radio, more programs, etc. but many people just don’t think of expanding or developing their organization by publishing a book. This is one of the most powerful ways of growing as an organization for several reasons:

For one, a book is the best to of learning for a visual learner. You can’t expect that because you speak in person, on TV, or radio that the people that hear you are learning as much as you would hope they are. Some people are simply more visual than they are auditory so it’s what you can show them that makes the difference. These people like charts, graphs, pictures, and written words. A well written and visually captivating book will speak volumes to these people. This is important to you because you want your audience to receive you well. The better your audience receives you, the more your words will reflect through their lives. They will also tell and recommend more people to your ministry.

Also, a book is the most enduring method of communication. It’s not through radio, satellite, TV, or seminar that history from the earliest times BC have been recorded and taught to us; but it’s through the printed medium. Your written words stand throughout the ages. When you write a book, you not only write for today but for people 60 years and even 600 years from today. Consider the Holy Bible and other ancient records of history and how they have endured time and changed the hearts of men that we will never have met, us ourselves, as well as those we won’t get the opportunity to meet.

A book is a great way to begin, expand, or develop your ministry because it’s less expensive than other mediums. It’s less expensive and consumes far less time to publish a book than to launch a TV or even a radio program. However, if you do have one of these as your ministry, then publishing a book is a great way to further develop that which you have already established.

You should definitely do more research on book publishing as a great opportunity to begin, expand, or further develop your ministry, speaking career, or organization into an effective and prosperous one.

We all know that growing a ministry is financially difficult. The constant problem in non-profit organizations is the lack of money. The most successful organizations are the ones that develop a line of products and services that can be bought by the general public without the public feeling like they’re just giving money away. Everybody teaches these days on being a giver but the truth is people still don’t just give as much money as they spend on buying the things that they want. When they get something of value in return for giving their hard earned dollars, a fair exchange is created. You then become a resource instead of just being a charity.

This is why you should write and publish a book. In your ministry you focus on empowering and training people to live better lives by speaking. The next natural and prudent step then is for you to publish a book that presents in detail all that you try to teach in a short session or seminar. Publishing a book or books is a very wise way to accomplish the mission of your ministry while establishing a stream of income to supplement your other streams of income. If you go out to speak at industry events, you have people coming to you for classes or seminars, or you are a pastor, you can not only become more effective in your teaching by having a book but you will be supplementing your income which allows you to minister even more.

I think it’s a shame that ministries can’t accomplish things within their plan or have to stop providing services because they don’t have the money to sustain the ministry. Having a book that is well written, entertaining, inspiring, and informative can grow into a strong stream of income for your ministry and could mean the difference in you being to go out and evangelize or not. Because if you go out to speak regionally or nationally, you may not get paid enough to cover your expenses and make enough profit to live on, but did you know that back of the room sales for authors is like one of the top 5 ways authors make their biggest money? Depending on the size audience you are speaking to, you will make hundreds or thousands of dollars per speaking engagement in book sales!

That’s exciting and it should be because you’re rewarding people for helping out with your ministry. If you have a TV or radio program and you constantly promote your book as something that the audience receives as a gift for supporting your ministry, you will definitely increase your donations to the ministry.

You should definitely consider publishing a book in order to supplement your income as a speaker, director of a non-profit, or head of a ministry. You will not only be able to provide another learning tool s for your ministry but you will be able to form another stream of income for your ministry that you need in order to continue building your organization. Publishing a book is one of the least expensive yet rewarding ways to develop a viable stream of income for your ministry.

We as a generation are responsible to build on what was established before us as we are responsible to educate and train the next generation. We are supposed to be committed as pastors, community leaders, as parents, older brothers, aunts, and teachers to help those who come after us grow and carry the torch of development and change on into the future. One of the most effective ways I have witnessed this being successfully accomplished is through books. It is the Holy Bible that continues to regulate the minds of millions of people all around the world and the best and most lasting format that has ever been created to sustain history and the account of the ages is the book. Not the television, the radio, the satellite, the internet, the cd, the cassette, or the seminar but the book.

So then if you want to join the club of being super-effective in changing the world and delivering important information to the future generations then you need to publish your work. It’s obviously the one medium that hasn’t become outdated or advanced to the point of being an old way of doing things. Authors have the power to useful and beneficial well beyond their years.

Leaving a legacy is important for the sake of productivity. God tells us to be fruitful and to multiply. We are supposed to be fruitful everyday and in every way that we possibly can. There is no time greater than this time that people can become published authors and rise to the top of this industry like this. The rise of POD companies as a viable source for writers to become published authors has leveled the playing field dramatically. Writers, educators, speakers, and leaders now have the opportunity to make their own way and take control of how far they go as published authors. I believe that the fact that there are more published authors now than probably any other time in history, the next generation is guaranteed to be much more sophisticated and advanced than we are now.

In other words, because we are all able to publish books and deliver our message of hope and empowerment, future generations will be able to use our experiences and best work as a starting point to their productivity as a citizen of the world. We have the potential to create even greater astronauts, even greater teachers, even greater, pastors, greater politician, and greater businessmen tomorrow by taking the time today to lay out the blueprint of our success through a book. I encourage you to become a trail-blazer, a leader, and a legend of this day by becoming an author!
